Alkmaar wins Dutch cup rematch at Ajax
Jan 19, 2012, 15:53 GMT
Amsterdam - AZ Alkmaar won 3-2 at Ajax Amsterdam in a Dutch Cup match which was replayed on Thursday after the original game was abandoned when the visitors walked off the pitch in the wake of a fan attack on their goalkeeper.
By order of the Dutch football federation KNVB, only school children were in attendance as Maarten Martens, Charlison Benschop and Rasmus Elm scored victory for AZ. Siem de Jong was on target twice for the hosts.
The original game on December 21 was abandoned in the first half after the AZ team left the pitch when their goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado was red-carded for kicking a fan who had run onto the pitch and attacked him.
The KNVB later nullified the red card and ordered the game to be replayed behind closed doors. Only school children under 13 were allowed to attend the game.
