Dubai - Diego Maradona said he was in good health on Monday after he was released from hospital and was received by cheering fans in the Gulf emirate of Dubai.
'I'm in good health, and I will be back to training on Wednesday,' Maradona told dpa after he was cleared from hospital following surgery to remove kidney stones.
The Argentine star, who coaches the Dubai-based Al Wasl club, said he wanted to reassure his fans on his health.
Maradona was admitted to hospital on Sunday after he complained of abdominal pains.
He left hospital on Monday to a group of cheering fans, waved to them while wearing the Al Wasl uniform.
'His health is completely stable and he can play sports and travel without any medical problems,' said Yasser Jassim, the doctor who performed the surgery.
'I could not believe it when they told me my patient is Maradona,' Jassim told dpa. 'He was very humble and simple while dealing with everyone at the hospital.'
Jassim said the surgery lasted for two hours late Sunday, after which the floor Maradona was staying in was filled with dozens of flower bouquets from fans and friends.
Shortly after the surgery on Sunday, Maradona was keen to watch the match between Sharjah and Baniyas teams in his hospital room after the doctors applied local anesthesia on him.
Sources at the hospital said Maradona was taking notes during the match to prepare for the next game of Al Wasl which Maradona has been coaching since May under a two-year contract.
