Ajax fan jailed for attack on goalkeeper
Dec 30, 2011, 8:39 GMT
Amsterdam - An Ajax Amsterdam football fan has been jailed for four months by a Dutch court for running onto the pitch and attacking a goalkeeper during a cup match last week.
The 19-year-old fan was also given a two-month suspended jail term on Thursday night.
The fan ran onto the pitch in the Ajax stadium and attacked AZ Alkmaar goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado. The AZ team walked off the pitch after Alvarado was shown the red card by the referee for kicking the fan and the game was abandoned.
The dismissal was later rescinded by the Dutch football federation and the match will be replayed behind closed doors on January 19.
Ajax imposed a 30-year stadium ban on the fan and the court on Thursday also ordered him to report to police for two years during games of Ajax, Alkmaar and the Dutch national team.
