Suarez banned over one-finger gesture
Dec 28, 2011, 13:56 GMT
London - Luis Suarez was given a one-game ban and fined 20,000 pounds (31,000 dollars) by the Football Association on Wednesday for making a one-fingered gesture at Fulham fans.
The Liverpool forward, who is appealing against an eight-game ban imposed for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra, made the gesture during his side's 1-0 defeat at Craven Cottage on December 5.
Liverpool have also been fined 20,000 pounds for failing to control their players in the same game, as they reacted badly to referee Kevin Friend's decision to send off midfielder Jay Spearing for a dangerous tackle.
Suarez will miss Friday's game against Newcastle United.
