Fulham recall goalkeeper Stockdale from loan after Schwarzer injury
Dec 14, 2011, 22:19 GMT
London - Fulham have recalled goalkeeper David Stockdale from his loan spell at Ipswich after an injury to No 1 choice Mark Schwarzer.
Australian Schwarzer will be out for up to six weeks after damaging his neck during the match with Swansea last weekend.
'Following an assessment by a specialist consultant on Tuesday evening, the club can confirm that he has sustained a compression injury to his thoracic spine,' Fulham said in a statement.
'He will be unavailable for four to six weeks and is expected to return to play towards the end of January.'
21-year-old Neil Etheridge played in goals for Fulham in a Europa League match against Odense on Wednesday, which the Premier League club drew 2-2 - a result that saw them eliminated from the competition.
Neither Etheridge, who is a Filipino international, nor Hungarian goalkeeper Csaba Somogyi, who was on the bench against Odense, have played a Premier League game.
