Alex and Anelka on transfer list
Dec 3, 2011, 17:07 GMT
London The process of rejuvenating Chelsea took a step forward on Saturday as the club accepted transfer requests from defender Alex and forward Nicolas Anelka.
Neither were part of manager Andre Villas-Boas's squad for the 3-0 win over Newcastle United, and have reportedly been asked to train with the reserves.
'The conversation was fair and very, very frontal and direct with the players,' Villas Boas said. 'The players have shown their interest in leaving the club, they have put in transfer requests for quite some time.
'They are top, top professionals - their professionalism and integrity is never in question - but at this moment and with the recent form and results, we have decided just to try to get the group together, and we have decided to assign different training times for Anelka and Alex.'
