Liverpool say Gerrard recovering well from ankle infection
Nov 3, 2011, 10:58 GMT
London - Liverpool said on Thursday that captain Steven Gerrard is recovering well from treatment for an ankle infection.
But manager Kenny Dalglish would not put a date on when the midfielder would be fit to return to the side.
Gerrard missed last weekend's win at West Brom after suffering an infection to his right ankle and rumours immediately flooded Twitter that he would be out until Christmas.
Liverpool said the 31-year-old will definitely miss Saturday's Premier League clash with Swansea City but Dalglish said he expected to see him back sooner rather than later.
'Since they found the infection, Steven has really been progressing extremely well,' Dalglish told reporters on Thursday.
'Everything is positive for him. They found the infection and I suppose it's a wee bit like flu - you know you've got it, but you don't know where it came from.
'But they are treating and it is responding really well, so it's positive for him.'
