Blatter dismisses talk of a deal between himself and Platini
Sep 14, 2011, 10:50 GMT
Berlin - The president of football's controlling body FIFA Joseph Blatter on Wednesday dismissed reports of a clandestine deal between himself and the president of Europe's governing football body Michel Platini.
Earlier reports said that Blatter was considering stepping down in two years and handing over to Platini in the wake of increasing criticism.
Blatter described the reports as 'pure nonsense.
'The suggestion that I intend to stop my four-year mandate before its end is simply ridiculous,' Blatter said via his Twitter account.
The 75-year-old was earlier this year elected to a fourth term in office. At the time he said that it would be his last.
