Berlin - Turkey overcame Kazakhstan in Guus Hiddink's first competitive match in charge of the side, while there were wins for Ireland, Russia and Serbia in Euro 2012 qualifiers on Friday.
Meanwhile Finland central defender Sami Hyypia was sent off in a 2-0 defeat at Moldova.
Hiddink saw his charges get off to a good start in Group A in Astana, with first-half goals from Arda Turan and Hamit Altintop and a third in the 75th minute from Nihat Kahveci.
Germany were playing Belgium in Brussels in the same group later.
Ireland began their Euro 2012 campaign in Group B with a 1-0 win over Armenia in Yerevan thanks to a 76th-minute goal from substitute Keith Fahey.
In the same group Russia began with a 2-0 win in Andorra with both goals from striker Pavel Pogrebniak, the second from the penalty spot.
Finland were down to 10 men after 36 minutes in Moldova when Bayer Leverkusen defender Hyypia was shown a red card for a bringing down Viorel Frunze.
The home side went on to win the Group E game with two second-half goals within six minutes from Alexandr Suvorov and Anatolie Dorosh.
Serbia earned a 3-0 win in Group C against the Faroe Islands in Torshavn, with goals from Danko Lazovic in the 14th minute, Dejan Stankovic four minutes later before a third in the last minute from Nikola Zigic.
A total of 23 matches were scheduled Friday. On Thursday, Israel secured a 3-1 win over Malta in Group F.
