Heskey quits international game
Jul 15, 2010, 17:23 GMT
London - Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey announced his retirement from international football on Thursday.
The 32 year old scored seven goals in his 62 England internationals, making his last appearance in the 4-1 defeat to Germany in the World Cup second round last month.
He had made his debut as a substitute against Hungary in 1999, and represented England in three World Cups and two European Championships.
'I have enjoyed every moment of my England career and worn the shirt with pride every time I have been fortunate enough to have been selected,' Heskey said.
'I would like to thank every manager I have played under, everyone at the Football Association and the fans for all their support over the years. I wish the management team and the playing squad all the best for the future.'
