Polokwane, South Africa - Portugal playmaker Deco on Thursday apologised for the criticism on coach Carlos Queiroz he voiced after the team's 0-0 draw with Ivory Coast at the World Cup.
'I should have not talked in the way I did. I did not act in a correct way,' the Chelsea midfielder Deco said.
Deco said he has also talked to his team-mates and believes that the affair which made big waves in Portugal is now over.
Deco had voiced his dissent after Tuesday's game, saying that Queiroz' tactics were wrong and that he was also not pleased about being substituted.
'If we continue like this we will win nothing,' he had said.
Portuguese media suggested he should be benched in the next game against North Korea or thrown out of the squad, but Queiroz was also criticised for his defensive tactics against the Ivory Coast.
Deco said on Thursday that 'it was never my intention to do the team harm. I am in South Africa to help the team.'
