Portsmouth fined over breach of rules
Mar 22, 2010, 17:19 GMT
London - Portsmouth were Monday fined around 1 million pounds (1.5 million dollars) by the Premier League for breaching rules and regulations over late payments of wages and transfer fees.
The south-coast club, who have debts of about 65 million pounds, were last week deducted nine points after becoming the first Premier League club to enter administration.
The team is now 11 points adrift at the foot of the Premier League and almost certain to be relegated.
The fine is expected to be paid from the club's share of TV revenue.
