Hamburg - Olympique Lyon on Wednesday scored an injury time goal by Lisandro Lopez to secure the draw they needed at home against Liverpool to advance to the knock-out stages of the Champions League.
Liverpool substitute Ryan Babel thought he had given the Premier League side the win seven minutes from the end in their Group E match before Lisandro struck late in the game to make the final score 1-1.
Liverpool, who are on four points, are now in danger of being knocked out as they are five points behind Fiorentina, who beat Debrecen 5-2 in the night's highest-scoring game.
Joining Lyon in the round of the last 16 on the night was Sevilla, who managed to draw 1-1 against VfB Stuttgart in Group G and benefited from a 1-1 draw between Unirea Urziceni and Glasgow Rangers in the other group game to make sure of their place in the next round.
Sevilla top the group on 10 points from Unirea, who have five. VFB Stuttgart on three points and Rangers on two, also still have a chance to make it into the next round.
There was plenty of drama in Group F, where Dynamo Kiev looked on course for an important victory against Inter Milan before late goals from Diego Milito and Wesley Sneijder gave the visitors the three points that took them to the top of the group.
Earlier Wednesday Rubin Kazin had played to a goalless draw against the cup holders Barcelona, which left the Spanish club in danger of being knocked out.
Milan top the group with six points from Barcelona and Kazan, who both have five points. Kiev are on four points.
Arsenal all but guaranteed their place in the knock-out stages with a 4-1 victory against Alkmaar in Group H to move to 10 points - just one short of securing a place in the next round.
Greek club Olympiakos, who lost 2-0 at Standard Liege are second on six points, while Liege is on four. Alkmaar have two points.
On Tuesday, Bordeaux, Porto and the Premier League duo of Manchester United and Chelsea also made sure of their place in the round of the last 16.
