Hamburg - Manchester United remain on track for speedy qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League after a late Luis Valencia goal secured a 1-0 victory Wednesday over CSKA Moscow.
The game looked to be petering out in a scoreless draw before Valencia struck four minutes from time to help United maintain their 100-per-cent record in Group B.
United now have a maximum nine points from three games, six clear of CSKA and Germany's VfL Wolfsburg, who play Besiktas Istanbul later Wednesday.
United dominated proceedings in the first half at the Luzhniki Stadium without creating any clear-cut chances, Paul Scholes coming closest for Sir Alex Ferguson's side in the 25th-minute with a long- range shot that was scooped over the bar by Igor Akinfeev.
Nani should have given United the lead just before the hour mark but his header from a Gary Neville cross was well saved by Akinfeev.
Tomas Necid just failed to connect with a free-kick five minutes later in what proved to be CSKA's best chance while Valencia saw his shot come off the crossbar eight minutes from time after some fine build-up work with Nani.
However the reprieve was only temporary as four minutes later Valencia slotted home from close range after Dimitar Berbatov had headed on a Nani cross.
The win means United equal Ajax's records of 14 unbeaten away games in the Champions League.
