Stadium ban for fan shoved by Bellamy

London - The Manchester United fan who was pushed in the face by Craig Bellamy was banned from attending football matches for three years on Wednesday. The Manchester City forward was pictured clashing with the fan after the final whistle of United's 4-3 victory in the Manchester derby on September 20. Jake Clarke, 21, from Chorley, Lancashire, admitted running in the pitch after Michael Owen scored United's injury-time winner. The bricklayer had to be restrained by four stewards. 'I'm gutted about what I have done,' Clarke said. 'I know it was a stupid action. I just wanted to celebrate.' In his defence, Clarke's lawyer suggested the incident only progressed as far as it had because of Bellamy's action, and Bellamy is not being pursued by police, although he is likely to be warned by the Football Association. Anne Marie Evans, chair of the Magistrate's bench, also imposed a 305-pound (490-dollar) fine. 'Your explanation was that you wanted to celebrate,' she said. 'This does not give you any right to run onto the pitch. Your actions could have resulted in disorder and possible violence.'
