Adebayor banned for three games over stamp

London - The Football Association confirmed on Thursday that Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been banned for three matches for stamping on Robin van Persie during Saturday's 4-2 win over Arsenal. The suspension will begin immediately, ruling him out of City's Premier League game against Manchester United on Sunday. Adebayor did not contest the charge. A further charge of improper conduct, relating to his goal celebration in which he ran the length of the pitch before sliding on his knees in front of Arsenal fans will be considered at a later date. 'A regulatory commission today considered the charge of violent conduct issued against Manchester City's Emmanuel Adebayor under the fast-track disciplinary procedure following an incident with Robin van Persie during their fixture against Arsenal on the 12th September,' an FA statement read. 'Taking into consideration Mr Adebayor's acceptance of the charge of violent conduct the regulatory commission have ordered that he serve a three-match suspension from all football, commencing Thursday 17th September.'
