Hamann one of four released by City

London - Former Germany international Dietmar Hamann was one of four former Manchester City players seeking a new employer on Wednesday after the club confirmed their contracts had not been renewed. Manager Mark Hughes's decision to release the four - Hamann, defenders Danny Mills and Michael Ball and forward Darius Vassell - confirms his determination to restructure the squad, with money available from the Abu Dhabi consortium that owns the club. All four were out of contract, and their departures were widely expected. Mills has not played first-team football in over a year, Vassell and Hamann both struggled with persistent injuries last season and Ball has been supplanted in the squad by Wayne Bridge.
