Liverpool captain Gerrard out for three weeks
Feb 5, 2009, 14:52 GMT
London - England midfielder Steven Gerrard will be out of action for at least three weeks with a hamstring injury, his club Liverpool confirmed on Thursday.
The Liverpool captain limped out of Wednesday's 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Everton after 16 minutes.
A scan on Thursday morning revealed a tear in the hamstring.
Gerrard is now a major doubt for the first leg of Liverpool's Champions League round of 16 tie against Read Madrid on February 25.
A Liverpool spokesman confirmed: 'A scan today has confirmed a tear in the hamstring of Steven's left leg. He will be out of action for about three weeks.'
