Domenech keeps his options open
Jun 8, 2008, 18:37 GMT
Zurich - French coach Raymond Domenech on Sunday kept his options open to withdraw injured captain Patrick Vieira from the French squad at the European Championships.
The Les Bleus begin their Euro 2008 campaign on Monday with a Group C game in Zurich against Romania, but a question mark remains over the availability of Vieira, who is carrying a thigh injury and seems certain to miss at least the first game.
Domenech has already ordered Arsenal's Mathieu Flamini to Switzerland as a possible replacement as he is allowed to call up another player for an injured player before their first game.
'We can still decide until shortly before the game,' Domenech said.
He also warned that his side should not treat the Romanians lightly. 'They managed to finish their qualifying group ahead of the Dutch and I see no reason why that situation should suddenly have changed and the Dutch are stronger,' he said.
