Beckham tells Ronaldo not to emulate him in Real move from United
Jun 3, 2008, 11:38 GMT
London - David Beckham has told Cristiano Ronaldo not to follow in his footsteps by leaving Manchester United for Real Madrid.
'I believe he's at the right club now, a club he should stay at. As much as Real are a great team and one of the biggest clubs in the world, he's only just starting at United,' British news reports on Tuesday quoted Beckham as saying.
The Portugal winger Ronaldo is said to be top of Real's summer shopping list even though United manager Alex Ferguson says he's not for sale.
Ronaldo himself has sent mixed signals, quoted in the Portuguese media as wanting to stay at the freshly crowned Champions League winners while making more vague statements towards the Spanish media.
Beckham left United for Real in 2003 to become one of the Galacticos there alongside Brazil's Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo. He then moved on to Los Angeles last year.
Ferguson said: 'We want Cristiano to stay for a long, long time. He is on a fantastic contract and quite rightly so - he's the best player in the world.'

Christiano Ronaldo should stay at United.
Moving to Real Madrid for the sake of money would be a grave mistake.
At present,He's at the right club at the right time. There's a better future awaiting him at United.
