Hargreaves out, Gerrard in for EURO tilt
Sep 10, 2007, 20:02 GMT
London, England - With England set to face Russia in a EURO 2008 qualifier at Wembley on Wednesday, Steven Gerrard has been declared fit to play.
The Liverpool captain was substituted with 20 minutes to go in Saturday's 3-0 win over Israel, but he says he has had no reaction to the broken toe he was nursing heading into the game.
'The toe is fine. There is no reaction,' Gerrard said.
Gerrard's availability is definitely welcome news to England manager Steve McClaren, who will be without midfielder Owen Hargreaves, after the midfielder was ruled out of Wednesday's match with a thigh injury.
The Manchester United star was hurt in training last Wednesday and was unavailable for the weekend Euro qualifier against Israel at Wembley.
On top of that injury, Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has also returned to his club with a thigh problem and is unavailable for the Group E qualifier.
