Gerrard among list of withdrawals for England

London, England - Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard was among a list of four more players who have withdrawn from the England squad that will meet Germany in a friendly on Wednesday at Wembley Stadium.
Gerrard played in his team's 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday but was set to have an X-ray on his fractured toe on Monday.
Tottenham striker Darren Bent, Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves and Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell were the other three players who were ruled out of the England squad.
Bent will not take part because of a thigh problem while Hargreaves is complaining of a knee issue after making his Manchester United debut on Sunday. Campbell has also been deemed unfit to play because of a groin injury.
Among the players who will take part in the contest for manager Steve McClaren is midfielder David Beckham, who arrived in England just one day after playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy of MLS on Saturday night.
Michael Owen is also expected to play for England on Wednesday after recovering from a serious knee injury. Owen made his first appearance of the season for Newcastle on Saturday as a substitute and is eager to reclaim a spot up top in the absence of Wayne Rooney, who is out with a broken foot.
