United's Scholes to miss a month with knee injury
Jul 23, 2007, 22:50 GMT
Manchester, England - Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes is expected to be out of action for the next month after suffering a knee injury during United's Asia tour.
Scholes was sent home from the pre-season tour and will undergo an exploratory operation to find out the extent of the damage.
'Paul felt his knee in the last game (against FC Seoul) and we've sent him home for an arthoscope to see what kind of damage there is,' head coach Sir Alex Ferguson told MUTV. 'We don't think it is serious, but we will keep him out for about three weeks to a month.'
United begins defense of its Premiership title on August 12 at Old Trafford against Reading and it is doubtful that Scholes will able to take part in the match.
