Beckham doubtful for Saturday with sprained ankle
Jun 7, 2007, 18:33 GMT
Madrid - David Beckham is doubtful for Real Madrid's crucial game away to Zaragoza on Saturday with a sprained left ankle.
Beckham, 32, picked up the injury in England's 3-0 win away to Estonia on Wednesday.
The Real doctors have ordered Beckham to rest for 48 hours. Not until Saturday midday will it be clear if he can play in Zaragoza.
Team-mate Ruud van Nistelrooy said on Thursday afternoon that he was 'completely sure' that Beckham would play on Saturday.
'David wants to play the last two games,' Van Nistelrooy told the Spanish media, 'which will be his last games for Real Madrid. He wants to leave having won something.'
Beckham, of course, is joining Los Angeles Galaxy in July, after four unsuccessful years in Madrid.
Real are level at the top of 'La Liga' with Barcelona on 72 points but ahead of the Catalans on the Spanish direct results system.
If they win their last two games, against Zaragoza and Mallorca, Real will be Spanish champions for the first time since 2003.
