FA to probe Emre allegations
Jan 2, 2007, 16:36 GMT
Birmingham - The Football Association announced Tuesday that they will investigate allegations that Newcastle United midfielder Emre racially abused Everton's Joleon Lescott and Tim Howard.
Referee Dermot Gallagher did not hear any such comments during Everton's 3-0 Premiership victory Saturday, but he referred to the allegations in his match report.
An FA spokesman said: 'We have received the referee's report and he mentions that an allegation was made, but he did not hear anything himself.
'We will be writing to Everton to request any further information with which they can provide us.
'If we receive any evidence from players or supporters, we will treat it very seriously.'
