Rio de Janeiro - A clearly emotional Ronaldinho formally inaugurated a project bearing his name for youngsters in his Brazilian home town of Porto Alegre, media reports said Thursday.
The Instituto Ronaldinho Gaucho aims to help up to 3,500 kids from the poorest areas of the city with sport, media, language, music and and computer facilities.
'This project is the best goal I've ever scored,' the tearful Barcelona football superstar said. 'Today is an unforgettable day, the most moving one in my life.'
The facility features an artificial turf football pitch, two swimming pools, volleyball and tennis courts and an indoor sports area able to take 4,000 spectators. It is due to open on march 21, when Ronaldinho turns 27.

I think it is wonderful when players of Ronaldinho's calibre give something back to the communities they have come from.A lot of soccer players seem to come from disadvantaged backgrounds and most wish to distance themelves from their past once they have made it but all credit to Ronaldinho - it cetainly makes him a worthy World Champion and I take my hat off to his mother and family - they have brought him up well.
