Barcelona reserve Ronaldinho for Bremen showdown
Dec 1, 2006, 13:20 GMT
Madrid - Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard raised eyebrows on Friday by leaving Ronaldinho out of his squad for Saturday's 'Liga' match away to Levante.
Rijkaard has made it clear that he wants to rest Ronaldinho ahead of Tuesday's Champions League Group A showdown with Werder Bremen.
Defending champions Barcelona need to beat Bremen in order to reach the second round. A draw in Barcelona would be enough to take the Germans through.
This is not the first time that Rijkaard has rested Ronaldinho before a key European game.
Another player left out of the squad for Levante is Mexican defender Rafa Marquez, who has been out of action for two weeks with a slight sprain in his right ankle.
