Bellamy steps in court, not on pitch
Nov 27, 2006, 23:13 GMT
Liverpool, England - Liverpool announced Monday that the squad is almost positive about the absence of striker Craig Bellamy in the Reds' midweek match against Portsmouth due to a court hearing.
After spending two days in Magistrates' Court last week, Bellamy continues to deny an assault charge brought against him. The 27-year-old will face three more days this week in court for the trial in his home city of Cardiff, making it close to impossible that the striker will get back to Anfield in time for the Wednesday night fixture.
Bellamy has used the training facilities in his home town to keep in game shape, but missing out on team practices has forced Liverpool to prep for its Pompey meeting without him.
In other Liverpool news, the club completed the signing of 17-year-old Boca Juniors defender Emiliano Insua, the Reds' are just awaiting international clearance to make it official.
