World champion Grosso leaves Azzurri's camp
Oct 3, 2006, 14:11 GMT
Milan - A pulled muscle has sidelined defender Fabio Grosso for the two Euro 2008 qualifiers that world champions Italy are to play against Ukraine and Georgia, ANSA reported Tuesday.
The Inter Milan footballer failed to recover from an injury in his right thigh that he suffered at the weekend and left the Azzurri's training camp in Coverciano, just outside Florence.
Coach Roberto Donadoni, who called up 25 players for Saturday's home match against Ukraine and for a visit at Georgia on October 11, has not announced a replacement for Grosso.
Italy and their new coach are in desperate need of points after notching a single one from the first two games in a qualification group led on six points by France and Scotland.
