Materazzi extends contract at Inter Milan
Aug 3, 2006, 22:06 GMT
Milan, Italy - Marco Materazzi signed a new four-year contract at Inter Milan on Thursday, keeping him at the Serie A club until the summer of 2010.
'I have extended my contract. It was my desire and that of Massimo Moratti, Giacinto Facchetti and the whole club,' Materazzi told Inter Milan's website.
'So the extension was a consequence. I thank everyone, particularly Dr. Moratti because he has always been close to me, also during the World Cup.'
The 32-year-old defender, who was head-butted by Zinedine Zidane in Germany 2006, scored two goals for Inter Milan last season.
Inter, who finished third in Serie A last year with 76 points, was recently awarded the title after Juventus and AC Milan were accused of match-fixing.
