The picture shows the golden football developed especially for the finale of the upcoming World Cup, Berlin, Germany, Tuesday 18 April 2006. The ball bears the name 'Teamgeist Berlin' (Team spirit Berlin). Photo: adidas EPA/HOOrganising committee president Franz Beckenbauer and adidas boss Herbert Hainer unveiled the ball on Tuesday in Berlin. It is the first time in World Cup history that the final will see a special ball. Hainer said that a special occasion required a special ball while Beckenbauer expressed his surprise that no one had the idea before. While the regular ball at the June 9-July 9 tournament named 'Teamgeist' (team spirit) is black and white with only little gold, the 'Teamgeist Berlin' model for the final is predominantly gold. British daily The Times reported earlier this month that the World Cup winner will be allowed to keep the golden ball and use it until the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. © 2006 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur
