Ballack says he is going nowhere - Rummenigge agrees
Jul 20, 2005, 16:57 GMT
Hamburg - Playmaker Michael Ballack has no intention of leaving Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich now and according to chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge would also not be allowed to move elsewhere.
"Fact is that Michael Ballack has a contract until June 30, 2006 - at least. We won't let him go under any circumstances. I repeat: under any circumstances," Rummenigge said.
News reports have linked the 28-year-old with Manchester United who are allegedly ready to pay 18 million euros for an instant move. On Wednesday, Russian paper Novyie Izvestiya said that Spartak Moscow were even ready to dish out 35-40 million euros for him.
Rummenigge also said that there were indications that the Germany captain Ballack will renew his contract in Munich beyond 2006.
Ballack named a new contract in Munich "a very nice possibility" and said he had no plans to leave the club this summer.
"It is my absolute aim to play in Munich until 2006. Big tasks are ahead of us and I want to be part of it," Ballack said at the team's pre-season training camp in Bonn.
Ballack, 28, came to Munich in 2002 from Bayer Leverkusen and is considered Germany's best footballer.
