Ballack's future decided before season begins, says Rummenigge

Munich - The issue of Michael Ballack's long-term future at German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will be sorted out before the start of the new season, club chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, said in an interview Wednesday.
"The issue will be sorted before the start of the Bundesliga," Rummenigge told Wednesday's Bild Zeitung newspaper. "I see a good chance for us to extend his contract." he said.
"Michael now feels comfortable here, knows he is valued. I think we can get a speedy answer and decision."
German international Ballack's current contract runs out at the end of next season, at which time the midfielder would be free to leave on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old is currently on holiday, following the Confederations Cup with Germany last month but is due to return for pre-season training next week.
