Lyon, France - New Zealand on Saturday scored a convincing 108-13 victory against Portugal in their Rugby World Cup Pool C match played in Lyon.
The All Blacks ran in 16 tries, of which Nick Evans converted 14. He also scored a try for a personal tally of 33 points, the seventh- best score ever obtained by a single player in a World Cup match.
New Zealand's 16 tries were scored by 13 different players, establishing a new World Cup record. The previous record had belonged to Australia, for whom 11 players scored in a game during the last World Cup in 2003.
For Portugal prop Rui Cordeiro, who came on as a second-half substitute, scored the first-ever try for his side against New Zealand, while Goncalo Malheiro scored a drop goal for the Portuguese, becoming the first player at this competition to score with a drop goal.
The victory sees the All Blacks comfortably at the top of their group with 10 points, cruising towards the quarter-finals with their group games against Romania and Scotland remaining.
