Four newcomers to compete for Slam Dunk crown
Feb 16, 2012, 17:53 GMT
Los Angeles - With high-flying Blake Griffin of the LA Clippers deciding not to defend his Slam Dunk title, the NBA will have a new winner in the re-formatted fan-favourite contest.
Chase Budinger of the Houston Rockets, Derrick Williams of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Iman Shumpert of the New York Knicks and Paul George of the Indiana Pacers are set to compete for the crown on February 25 at Orlando's Amway Arena during the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities.
The four players will compete in a single round format in which each contestant will execute three dunks, with the winner being decided solely by fan votes via Twitter.
Previously, the contest consisted of two rounds, with the first round being scored by a panel of judges which determined the finalists.
