Magic bounces back from Boston bashing to beat Pacers

Jan 25, 2012, 6:52 GMT

Los Angeles - Ryan Anderson scored 24 points, JJ Redick had 15 off the bench and the Orlando Magic overcame Dwight Howard's early foul trouble to defeat the host Indiana Pacers 102-83 Tuesday night.

The Magic bounced back to gain a split of the two games in as many nights on a road trip after establishing franchise-lows in scoring and shooting percentage (24.6) in Monday's 87-56 bashing by the Boston Celtics.

Howard had 14 points and nine rebounds to surpass Nick Anderson as Orlando's all-time leading scorer (10,657), as the Magic broke open the game by outscoring the Pacers 57-38 in the second half.

Danny Granger and Roy Hibert scored 16 points apiece for Indiana, which suffered its first home loss of the season after opening 5-0.

Tyson Chandler had 20 points with 17 rebounds and the struggling New York Knicks snapped a six-game slide by skinning the host Charlotte Bobcats 111-78, despite receiving a career-low one point on 0-7 field goal shooting from its leading scorer Carmelo Anthony.

Chris Bosh poured in 17 of his season-high 35 points in the final quarter, LeBron James added 18 against his former team and the host Miami Heat minus All-Star guard Dwyane Wade for the fifth straight game because of a right ankle sprain, fought off the scrappy Cleveland Cavaliers, 92-85.

Italian hot-shot Andrea Bargnani, sidelined the last six games because of left calf strain, scored 36 points and the visiting Toronto Raptors snapped a six-game slide by setting the Suns for the first time in the last 15 meetings, 99-96.

Polish-native Marcin Gortat had 21 points and 12 rebounds while Steve Nash had 17 points and 14 assists for Phoenix, which hadn't lost to Toronto since February 10, 2004.

LaMarcus Aldrdidge scored 22 points and the host Portland Trail Blazers went on a decisive 22-2 second-half run to stop the surging Memphis Grizzlies' seven-game roll, 97-84.
