Thunder beat Spurs, become first to win three games in three nights

Jan 9, 2012, 5:33 GMT

Los Angeles - Kevin Durant had 21 points with 10 rebounds and seven assists on Sunday night, as the Oklahoma City Thunder blew out the visiting San Antonio Spurs 108-96, to become the first team to win three games in three nights.

James Harden scored 20 points, while fellow-reserve Nick Collison had 12 points and 10 boards for Oklahoma City (8-2), which opened the weekend with a home-and-away sweep of the Houston Rockets.

Gary Neal tallied 18 points to pace the Spurs (6-3), who lost to the Thunder for the first time in seven meetings, after getting outscored 37-21 in the game-breaking third quarter.

Polish-native Marcin Gortat led seven players in double figures with 18 points, while Steve Nash dished out 17 assists, as the Suns beat the Bucks in Phoenix for the 24th consecutive time since February 21, 1987, 109-93.

Kevin Love collected 20 points and 16 rebounds, Spanish rookie guard Ricky Rubio had 13 points and 14 assists, as the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves dropped the Washington Wizards to a franchise-worst 0-8 record to start the season, 93-72.

With superstar Dwight Howard in foul trouble, Jason Richardson netted a season-high 22 points, Glen Davis added 20 and the visiting Orlando Magic stopped the Sacramento Kings, 104-97.

The perennial All-Star centre, Howard made just 1-of-2 shots and finished with all five points in the fourth quarter - his lowest total since December 24, 2009 - and just four rebounds in 20 minutes.

Tyreke Evans tallied 28 points for Sacramento, which fell to 1-1 under new head coach Keith Smart.

Elsewhere: the host LA Lakers won their sixth in a row at home, taming the short-handed Memphis Grizzlies, 90-82, and the Portland Trail Blazers moved to 5-0 at the Rose Garden after crushing the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers, 98-78.
