Anthony drops in late three, Knicks keep Wizards winless

Jan 7, 2012, 6:23 GMT

Los Angeles - Carmelo Anthony poured in 37 points, including the go-ahead three with 15.5 seconds left, and the visiting New York Knicks kept the Washington Wizards winless through seven games this season after a 99-96 victory Friday night.

The Wizards had a shot to force overtime after New York's Iman Shumpert split a pair of free throws. However, Nick Young's three-point try from the left side out of a timeout missed at the buzzer.

Amar'e Stoudemire had 23 points and 12 boards for the Knicks, who rallied from 16 down in the opening half, to stop a modest two-game slide.

Young scored 24 points, while John Wall finished with 22 and nine assists for Washington, which is off to its worst start in franchise history.

Kevin Durant scored 26 points, reserve James Harden had 23 and the Oklahoma City Thunder stopped a two-game slide after roughing up the visiting Houston Rockets, 109-94.

Danilo Gallinari tossed in 23 points and the visiting Nuggets went on a game-breaking 19-0 second-half run for their fourth straight win, while handing the Hornets their fifth straight loss, 96-88.

Reigning league MVP Derrick Rose had 21 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists, leading the visiting Bulls to their sixth straight win, 97-83, over the Orlando Magic despite 28 points and 15 rebounds from Dwight Howard.
