WADA to monitor Tour de France drug testing
Jun 23, 2010, 9:46 GMT
Montreal - The World Anti-Doping Agency on Tuesday signed a contract to monitor the drug test programme at the Tour de France which starts on July 3.
The WADA will be able to look into all aspects of the anti-doping efforts at the three-week race. The ruling cycling body UCI turned to WADA in an effort for more transparency. WADA will file a report after the race.
Two years ago the UCI was barred from conducting drug testing at the famous race as the French Anti-Doping Agency took charge. The French agency accuses the UCI of not doing a good job to catch cheaters in the sport plagued by doping.
