Paula Radcliffe heads British team for athletics worlds

London - Paula Radcliffe heads a 52-strong British team nominated Monday for the upcoming world athletics championships and could be aiming for a marathon and 10,000 metres double. Radcliffe, 31, has so far not said whether she will run in both events. The 10,000m are on the opening day of competition in Helsinki, August 6, the marathon on the closing day August 14. The marathon world record holder Radcliffe ran both distances at the Athens Olympics last year but failed to finish on each occasion. The UK team includes other stars such as sprinter Jason Gardener, but the double Olympic champion Kelly Holmes is sidelined with injury and won't be able to make the trip to Finland. © dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur
