Surface-to-air missiles could be deployed at London Olympics
Nov 14, 2011, 16:16 GMT
London - The British government said Monday that surface-to-air missiles could be used if necessary to protect the skies over London during the Olympic Games next year.
Defence Secretary Philip Hammond told parliament that 'all necessary measures' would be taken to ensure security.
He said that 'appropriate ground to air defences' could be in place if that was recommended by the military.
His comments, which were made in answer to a question in parliament, came amid a heated debate about security for the Games next summer.
