Kasper hopes that worlds boost team event's Olympic chances
Feb 7, 2011, 13:24 GMT
Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany - World ski supremo Gian Franco Kasper hopes for a smooth running of the team event at the alpine world championships in order to boost its Olympic chances.
The team event is seeking entry into the Olympic programme from the 2014 Sochi Games onwards - with IOC president Jacques Rogge to decide after the end of the season.
The team event could not be held in 2009 due to bad weather, and Kasper said he hoped for the best at its mid-championship slot next week in Garmisch.
'The team event is important for the Olympics,' Kasper told reporters.
Kasper also looked at upcoming Europa Cup races at Sochi venues - the first test events for 2014.
'We hope the tests in Sochi will be ok. They will make some mistakes, that is normal, that's what the tests are there for,' Kasper said.
