Annecy Olympic bid chief steps down
Dec 13, 2010, 3:48 GMT
Paris - Edgar Grospiron, general director of the 2018 Olympic bid committee for the eastern French resort of Annecy, resigned from the effort to win the Winter Games.
Christian Moteil, chairman of the bid's supervisory board, announced Grospiron's Sunday night departure after an emergency meeting of the bid committee.
Grospiron has previously complained that a lack of money was hampering the bid effort, especially in international lobbying.
Annecy is competing against Munich and Pyeongchang, South Korea.
The International Olympic Committee is to select the 2018 host city in voting on July 6 in Durban, South Africa. Official bid documents must be filed with the committee by January, to be followed by site visits by the committee's evaluation panel.
