Pyeongchang bid team says acting on IOC advice
Nov 3, 2010, 14:57 GMT
Seoul - Pyeongchang will continue to seek advice from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) relating to its bid to host the 2018 winter Games, an official said Wednesday.
Lee Jihye, of the Pyeongchang bid's communications team, said the IOC's advice on 'what is allowed and what is not' had always been sought and would continue to be sought.
This was independent of an investigation launched by the IOC last week into two South Korean sponsorship deals and whether they present a conflict of interest for Pyeongchang's 2018 bid, she said.
The IOC is examining a sponsorship deal with the International Skating Union ISU by Korean Airlines as well as one involving Korean electronics firm Samsung with the international rowing federation, FISA.
The heads of both federations are IOC members and are eligible to vote in next July's 2018 Games host city election. Pyeongchang, which is bidding for a third successive time, is up against Munich in Germany and Annecy in France.
