Anderson delivers snowboard gold for Canada
Feb 27, 2010, 22:48 GMT
Cypress Mountain, Canada dpa) - Jasey Jay Anderson came from behind in the first run to win the men's parallel giant slalom gold for Canada on Saturday.
Anderson, 34, made up a 0.76-second deficit to beat Austrian Benjamin Karl by 0.35 seconds in the final.
'Shocked, I don't know what to say,' said the 2009 world champion on his feeling on winning gold.
'I had so much to make up and in these conditions, it's pretty much impossible.'
Bronze went to Mathieu Bozzetto of France after the small final in which Russian Stanislav Detkov slipped trying to get out of the gate.
Conditions were again poor with rain and fog for the last day of competition at Cypress Mountains.
'A true athlete drives out of adversity so I try to be a true athlete,' Anderson said.
'You're swimming all day and you can't see anything but you have to fight through.'
