IOC: record 2,621 athletes at Vancouver Games

Vancouver - A record 2,621 athletes from 82 countries participated at the Vancouver Olympics which close on Sunday, the International Olympic Committee said on Friday.
The IOC said that 1,557 men and 1,064 women took part in 86 medal events. The previous record was 2,508 athletes from 80 countries at the 2006 Games in Turin, Italy, which had 84 medal events.
