Stuttgart - Greek walker Athanasia Tsoumeleka and Croatian 800 metres runner Vanja Perisic have tested positive for the latest generation of the blood booster EPO at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
A source close to the investigation told German Press Agency dpa on Wednesday that the two athletes join the 1,500m gold medallist Rashid Ramzi of Bahrain as doping suspects.
The governing athletics body IAAF said earlier that three of its athletes are among six offenders for the substance CERA announced on Tuesday by the International Olympic Committee.
The other two are cyclists Davide Rebellin of Italy and Stefan Schumacher of Germany. The sixth athlete is reportedly a weightlifter.
The retests were carried out after a reliable test method for CERA was introduced last autumn.
Tsoumeleka was already caught and banned after the IAAF conducted its own retests of Beijing samples. Neither she nor Perisic medalled in Beijing.
