With our invasion of Iraq in the absence of a compelling security concern, and our support of the illegal treatment of Palestinians in Israel, we of the US and Europe have lost our credibility to stand up against atrocities abroad. Hopefully a new Us president will re-establish the alliance of West European and American nations as the premier guarantors of peace and freedom in this world. Only then will speaking out against totalitarianism in Asia be meaningful. It seems that these protesters have some work to do at home before they show up in China making trouble.
