Capitals re-sign defenseman Erskine

Arlington, VA - The Washington Capitals re-signed defenseman John Erskine to a two-year contract Monday. Per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.Erskine played in 29 games for the Capitals last season, notching one goal and six assists while collecting 69 penalty minutes. He missed 25 games in the middle of the season with a fractured foot and sat out the final 14 games of the year with a dislocated thumb.Erskine was a second-round selection of the Dallas Stars, taken 39th overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He has amassed four goals, eight assists and 405 penalty minutes while logging time for the Capitals, New York Islanders and Stars.© 2007 The Sports Network
