Denver, CO - The Colorado Avalanche signed forward Wyatt Smith and defenseman Wes O'Neill to one-year contracts on Monday.
The 30-year-old Smith played in a career-high 61 games with the Minnesota Wild last season, compiling three goals and three assists. Overall, Smith has played in 186 career games with the Wild, Nashville Predators, Phoenix Coyotes and New York Islanders, and has tallied 10 goals and 19 helpers.
O'Neill, 21, recently wrapped up his collegiate career at Notre Dame and finished his senior campaign second among defensemen with 21 points.
'These players provide us additional organizational depth,' said Avalanche assistant general manager Greg Sherman. 'We have the ability now with our affiliates to sign and develop players with our own staff and philosophy.'
